Swing into the Chinese New Year to celebrate the Year of the Monkey—and learn more about how the Lunar New Year is celebrated throughout Asia—at this annual, daylong extravaganza. As the co-sponsor, TC@Penn aims to create the most authentic festival atmosphere for visitors. Founded in 2010, TC@Penn is a student organization that aims to spread Chinese language and culture through free Chinese tutoring and holding Chinese culture events. During the event, the whole family can enjoy traditional music and dance, tai chi and tangram workshops, a Shaolin-style Kung Fu demonstration, family gallery tours, storytelling, crafts and much more. Activities are held in the China Gallery, which houses one of the finest collections of monumental Chinese art in the country, and throughout the international galleries of Museum. The day ends with a drum roll, a roar, and the popular Grand Finale Lion Dance Parade. A special red envelope of surprises awaits every family who attends the festivities! Free with Museum admission.
